Fork is good, not much retaining ring

There is not much in such a fork, but it is a quality device. My only concern is that the threaded locking ring that you screw onto the back of the plate is only screwed in on opposite sides of the ring, not all the way around, and there are two flat sides on the connector. This allows the ring's threads to align with the planes of the body and slide it all the way in, then rotate 180 degrees to hold it in place. Unfortunately, the threads on the ring are limited, and the fact that it comes loose when rotated 180Β° means it's not easy or safe to tighten and secure. I installed three and one has already appeared. I'll probably either find a suitable threaded ring or add some glue to hold it in place, but that's a sore point in an otherwise good product. The extra lid they provide to keep it in place is great if you have space and want a square lid rather than a clean round look without it. Clearly marked + and - on the terminals are pleasant to the touch. The weatherproof lid should stay in place and close snugly, without a spring-loaded hinge like some of the other options. I'm not worried about the lack of a drain on the side, if water gets in there's nowhere to go, but that's an easy fix.

Pros
  • Easy assembly, with included mounting plate for front mounting or retaining ring for rear mounting
Cons
