Bought these for a trip to Wyoming where it was 20 degrees and they were perfect. Nice color - not black! I bought wine red. They fit my natural waist well so a bit more of the high waisted style but I prefer it to a medium rise, I don't have to pull them up all the time. Wore them during a snowfall and they were perfect. He had underpants underneath so it was hot and not cold at all. Felt stylish and individual. They even looked good from behind. I'm 5'4" and they were too long so I cut off a few inches and rehemmed them. I usually wear a size 4-6 and the medium fits me.
