What a great dog door! A medium sized 1 1/4 inch timber storm door was installed in just 30 minutes. I removed the door, punched an opening and screw holes in the outer door frame (as per other recommendations), drilled corner holes for the jigsaw blade entry and holes for the installation screws, then cut out the hole. Put the outer frame in the hole and it fitted perfectly! I tried not to over tighten the screws to avoid problems with weather changes. Then I put the door back on its hinges. Ready! Not bad for a 75 year old woman! I now have 3 older dachshunds ranging from 14-20lbs who are suspicious of ANY changes (this is a dachshund trait)! Her first concern was the magnetic clasp clicking, so I went and had her "sniff" it a few times to "test the waters". Dogs should explore in their own time. So half an hour later I went outside and called her. No way did they do this "quick job" until I offered the dog a treat. Attention, the oldest and bravest stuck her nose, then her head, then her leg, then FREEDOM! So funny! Post progress pictures. Within an hour the other 2 followed them for their sweet time. It must be the best for both dog and human! After researching dog doors for several months, I feel I made a smart purchase. I recommend this product as the cheapest on the market. Durability wise I will update if I run into any issues in cold weather (installed in August).
