Had a Gen2 Dot in Genie Genie 2 Holder This system worked great but the 2nd Gen speaker looked damaged so replace it with the 3rd generation. The whole thing took less than 30 minutes and would have taken half as long if the Revain Echo Dot 2 and 3 used the same power code, but they don't, I had to go to the attic to change the PSU, which is painful was nothing to do with the mount, the job is a breeze, and if you could install the gen 2 to 3 upgrade pretty easily. the third is slightly larger, so it's best to just circle it and trim it with a drywall saw or even a utility knife if you're careful. I've never had a problem keeping the Gen 2 mount in place, but the Gen 3 mount has a locking system that should stay secure if installed correctly. I am very happy with the 3rd gen mount with the 3rd gen point. If you already have 2 installed and are discussing upgrading, I would recommend this. The sound quality is much better and louder with the third generation setting. I hope this will be useful for everyone involved in the update
