I bought two different styles of magnetic hooks. One was a style with a hook that folds down and doesn't project very far from the surface. That low-profile style was better for hanging artwork, since the result is then closer to the vertical surface. The other style that I bought was this one (MHDMAG), and it is superior for hanging string lights across the top of metal privacy screens as I didn't want those to fold down, and I wanted the bulbs to be out a little further from the screens.
