This means that their diet must not contain high levels of protein. We've been buying prescription dog food for years. Aside from being quite expensive, it also uses fat as its main calorie source, which I don't like either. So I decided to look for alternatives. I noticed that vegan mixtures also contain little animal protein. We tried many different brands but the only one she really liked was Halo. I can only assume that it tastes better than others. Luckily, it didn't cause a noticeable increase in her blood count either. So from now on we'll stick with Halo Holistic Vegan.
