Review on 💫 Julep Matters Lengthening Mascara: A Buildable Option for Enhanced Eyelashes by Karen Smith

I've tried most brands of mascara at Sephora, as well as some drug and department store brands (over 30 years of mascara and counting). The best I've come across is Benefit They're Real Mascara, which lengthens and adds volume to my lashes, doesn't flake, smear, or clump, and is relatively easy to remove. This mascara compares well with a few caveats. Pros: - Extends well in one coat - Doesn't smudge or flake - Removes easily with detergent and water, no vigorous rubbing required - Easy to apply color to base lash (some fuller brushes make this more difficult and/or messier) - does not irritate my eyes at all cons - does not add volume. If you're looking for thicker lashes (not just longer ones), this mascara may not be for you. The bristles are very short, so apply most of the color to the front of the lashes (plus the back if I play around with that side). The side lashes get next to nothing (see photo comparing this wand to the Benefit wand). - It sticks to me. I suspect that the super short bristles sometimes cause the applicator to bleed the paint, even with just one coat. I wish it would separate the lashes better. Overall, this is a good mascara for length but not great for volume (except for the clumps!).
