I wasted too much time trying to figure out what an SD card is for my old Roku 3. I hope this will save you time and trouble: 1) Don't buy a micro SDHC card, it won't work. Must have a Micro SD card2) Many reviews say that Sandisk cards don't work. Be careful. 3) For Roku 3, you don't need a card larger than 2GB. Everything else is superfluous. 4) An SD card won't make your Roku any faster, but it saves your feeds so there are fewer updates that can take some time. 5) I just installed this on my Roku 3 (all on, remove HDMI cable, insert micro SD card upside down into HDMI slot but not all the way, reinsert HDMI card, use a small precision screwdriver to turn the Insert the SD card fully into the slot until you hear a click, then a dialog box appears, the screen prompts you to format, click it). It only takes a minute or two and you're done. For me, it takes about 5 minutes from unboxing to looking at my improved Roku 3. 6) I hope I've saved some of you many hours of frustration and Revain is back.
