The design covers both sockets in both positions and without blocking the light sensor

We have two of these to use together in my daughter's room. She goes to kindergarten and insists on sleeping through the night with two table lamps. I'm concerned this will wreak havoc on her sleep cycle and prevent her from sleeping soundly. I liked their dimmable amber glow. Didn't want anything with 64 colors, pulsating lights or projections. As we try to transition from almost institutional lighting to regular night light and eventually darkness, we need something between a table lamp and a regular night light. One of these in the brightest light will probably please most people and is on the bright side of a typical night light. It took us two at full brightness to make the transition. This is where we ran into our biggest problem: the sensitivity of the light sensor and the inability to toggle it on and off manually. The light sensor on one of them works fine, the other I think is thrown off by either the light from another night light or the fact that it's in the corner next to the white bookshelf. We can't rotate the night light and its sensor the other way because the sensor is then directly opposite the whiteboard tray. (The fact that all of the outlets in my daughter's room are in awkward places or hidden is something we partially accept.) Another problem is that they're so big that if you have a double outlet, they cover both outlets no matter which way you connect them. Thought I could rotate them as pictured to take advantage of the free outlet. no We'll look at the light sensor, maybe using an extension cord, an extension cord, or even covering the eye with duct tape. Closing both outlets in both positions is just a bad design idea.
