During the recent gas line explosion in San Bruno, California. After a power outage in nearby areas, I found that none of my "clockwork" lights and radios were working. I realized I needed a basic battery powered radio. I also wanted a comfortable handle that I can use to carry it around. This portable AM/FM/TV radio is just what I needed. I always have a supply of fresh batteries. I have a radio with my new emergency lights that also run on your regular batteries. I hope I never have to use them. But now I feel better prepared for the next emergency or earthquake.
