I am a carpenter, currently as an amateur but also as a professional at times in my life. I have a well stocked shop. I got this closet as a temporary measure until I had the time and desire to design and build a closet from scratch. I mention this to emphasize that I am a fairly skilled person who is good at assembling an Ikea style shallow cabinet. This cabinet uses what is often referred to as Ikea hardware; technically camshaft nuts and cam bolts. When I got to the assembly step that required two of these fasteners, one of them would not lock properly no matter how I tightened or loosened the eccentric screw. Hoping it was just a broken part, I proceeded with the assembly, drilling and countersinking a few holes and using ordinary screws. The next two assembly steps required four more Ikea fasteners, and despite my best efforts, none of the four snapped into place. tedious attempts to adjust the cam screw to match the cam nut. Just looking at these parts it is clear that they are of poor quality, they used plastic while Ikea has everything metal. That was enough for me; this piece of chipboard that broke off went in the trash. Judging by the recent positive reviews of this product, some buyers are luckier than me. Apparently I encountered a whole batch of defective Ikea fasteners in the kit. Just be aware you could be unlucky too, and if you are, you might have to take this £35 package to a UPS store to return it for a refund.
