This is a great camera for the price, but it takes a long time to focus. If you don't wait for it to focus, your shots will almost always be muddled. This is not a high-speed camera at all. I haven't tried it underwater but I've seen photos of others and I'm not afraid to use it underwater. The best use of water I can think of is when you've been in a downpour and either didn't get a chance to keep it dry, or when you were shooting in the rain. Other cameras will definitely fry. Update 05/17/2017 - We are buying a new camera. This camera is absolutely the worst in low light. The videos you can record are almost always compromised by the microphone picking up everything around the camera, including the mere handling of the camera. Slight camera shake is so pronounced in the video that it cannot be used. Whenever you take a picture in low light with one of the automatic settings, blurry images appear on the pictures. Speaking of poor lighting, I want to emphasize that any indoor application that uses lighting is under-lighted. The automatic flash almost never fires and is completely useless in its application.
