I've been using neckband headsets for many years, all LG. I had HBS-800, HBS-850 and HBS-A80. My HBS-A80 had a short in my left ear, so it was time to buy a new headset. LG didn't have any new "active" sweat and splash resistant headsets, so I decided to look at other brands. I came across the Exfit BCS-700 which seemed to have all the features I needed and got good reviews too so I decided to give it a try. I've been using it for a few days, and while I haven't set it to *all* speeds yet, I like it so far. Advantages: - Simplified administration. My HBS-A80 had two rockers and two regular buttons (not including the power button). BCS-700 has one switch and one button (no power switch or audio passthrough switch). Simplified controls might not be for everyone, but I like how the buttons etc are kept to a minimum - volume. They seem to sound louder than my HBS-A80 kit which is good for gardening. This is an absolute must. I don't want the headphones hanging around everywhere, I want to be able to easily clip them when not in use. connection quality. My wife hated trying to talk to me on the HBS-A80. I often turned off Bluetooth during a call and held the phone to my head, otherwise the quality was unbearable. My wife said that this headset actually sounds "good". Haven't tried speaking in a noisy place yet, but initial conversations seem good. - sweatproof - I'm not going to submerge this thing and prove how waterproof it is, but it's nice to have peace of mind and not have to worry about this thing getting wet when I'm gardening, fishing or whatever. Cons: The quality of the retractable feature. In general, this isn't a huge issue, but I think LG uses better retractable mechanisms that snap the headphones into place. The earbuds don't feel like they really snap in - the vibration. It looks like LG managed to make the entire headset vibrate. It only vibrates on one side. - Rocker switch, more like a slider. It's quite awkward to grab the headset and move the toggle switch/slider in any direction. Battery life. It would be nice if it had a little more battery life. I'm already used to charging every day, but 12 hours of battery life would be better. - Size - this headset is large, larger than the HBS-A80 and other headsets I've had. I'm a tall guy so it doesn't show on my face, but it might look big on smaller people. No pluses or minuses, just things that struck me as odd: - Equalizer settings. There are normal, bass and high. The normal and the bass seem to cut out a lot of mids. I leave it at high frequencies and it sounds almost the same as my HBS-A80. No complaints, just oddity - "sound transparency". When you turn this on, the headset will mix whatever's coming through the mics into what you're hearing. I don't see how this is supposed to be useful other than as a security measure. Most of the time, ambient noise sounds like it's coming through the phone, with a very short delay. Overall the cons are very minor annoyances, it pretty much ticks all the boxes I need in a headset and if mine were lost or stolen I would buy it again without even shopping. I will update this later when more new information becomes available. ------------ ------------- UPDATE: I had time to test this headset and would like to get back to you. I worked outside in this thing for a few days, sweating profusely, and it's held up fantastic. Don't worry about the build quality, it's solid. What I forgot in my original review is the excellent Bluetooth range. Better range than any LG headset I've had. I complained about the battery life in my original review, but after heavy use, the battery lasts a full day, maybe longer. As long as you charge it at the end of the day, you'll be fine. As for the music: I've heard a lot of metal with it, it has a lot of heavy, deep bass parts, double bass, etc. Strangely, in "High" mode, the bass sounds distorted. In the Normal or Bass mode, the sound is less distorted. So I'm a bit disappointed with it, but since I mostly listen to podcasts, that's not a problem for me. Maybe for those who listen to more music and try to soften the bass a bit by pushing it to the treble.
