Adds volume but is very effective.
I've had this phone case for a while now (wanted to wait before trying it) and it works very well. I've had several horrific falls and my phone hasn't been damaged. That adds bulk to the phone, but that's the price I was willing to pay for security. With other phone cases I've accidentally broken or ripped them from fidgeting and playing with any loose/moving parts on the case, but that's not something that's a huge plus for me.
