I agree with other reviews, they seem like small pieces soldered together. They should work fine and for me this was an advantage. I used 400 and 500mm sections (6 LEDs per 100mm). I've hooked up three 3D printers with front and back light bars, and there are a few left. There seemed to be a solder joint every 500mm so I cut there and usually discarded 100mm. I didn't use glue but glued into the channel I printed. They were powered by a 3D printer power supply. As you can see in the photo, they are very bright! I hooked up all three printers for $8.50, very pleased.
