Due to my flashlight craze I'm a bit of a snob/geek when it comes to LEDs and unfortunately there is so much junk on the regular market these days. I wasn't sure what to expect from it but I have to say I'm very happy with it for my needs and it's the real deal. The high color rendering index caught my eye and in fact these emitters are pretty good in that regard. However, with a slightly cooler color temperature of 6000K, this is somewhat limiting. However, I put bright orange plastic, bright red glossy cardboard, green pincer handles, bare beech and bare pine under the light at the same time and the color reproduction is such that no one should have major complaints or problems. They might not be the best option for artists, but they're a lot better than the typical harsh, cool-white/bluish drivers found in most products. I prefer neutral white drivers in the 4500-5000K range, but they look great at 6000K. I bought these for a drill press and a bench grinder and they work very well for both. This cooler light works well with brass and most raw woods, but I would have preferred a slightly warmer light for steel and finer detail. Love the fact that it has a true polarized plug - it and the cord are well made (great!), although I could add a few feet to the length of the cord. The switch is positive and easy to find. The gooseneck holds its position very well without too much bounce, and you can rotate the head gently if needed (it doesn't rotate, but you can rotate the goosenecks with ease. The rubber grommet on it should hopefully hold it in that position). time and prolonged use. The lamp head only heats up a bit with longer run times and I guess I won't worry about longevity. ) and fairly well on small areas or the round body of my sanders - didn't let go or vibrate out of position when adjusting position. If you need to mount it to smaller round bars it would be better to get a lamp with a V dial gauge or hardware mount instead, although you'll probably find a place that does that. The only thing that bothers me is that that the LEDs are exposed to dust (or aerosols, coolants, etc.). Probably does a good 300 lumens or so in a decent size. and, compared to a small flashlight, but the light is even and clean, no oddities in the beam or harsh shadows. It's actually very beautiful and beneficial. If I wanted to make it better I would add another row of drivers to make it a bit wider and brighter, lower the color temperature a bit, lengthen the cable a bit and maybe a slightly wider base/magnet, but that might as well be a disadvantage. If the smaller size suits your needs I'd say it's a winner and really is way better than a lot of LED products on the market. A very pleasant surprise and it's a keeper - so far I've enjoyed using it.
