Purchased a size 10/12 for an 8 year old girl who is 49 inches tall and weighs 50 pounds (slightly taller and slimmer than average). It's wide for her and longer in the arms than necessary, but it's not. so big that when she grows into it she can't carry it. She has already worn it 2 times in the few days she has it. Would give it 5 stars but the velcro for the tie needs strengthening soon and the tie itself is poorly sewn (crooked).
