TL:DR - Great storage, great end product - quite a pain to put together, smells awful! I'm really happy to have this bread bin, it's beautiful and the shelf ratio is good. Putting it together was quite painful with the tools provided, they're pretty special and I ended up tearing my fingers apart (no calluses to save me!). But when it was done, I was LOVED. The only problem I have now is that I've been collecting it for almost a month and it still smells really bad. All the loaves and items I keep there are stored in plastic but out of curiosity I put the bun in without the bag and after 2 days it smelled/tasted like processed bamboo too. So: keep it in plastic! If I were to go back in time I would buy it again, it's fantastic, especially for the price.
