For years I lived with those cheap plastic rings that were difficult to use. Washing the curtain to free it from the rings required painful twists to free it. These new rings simply snap onto the curtain rod and the curtain is simply hung on hooks - it's quick and easy to remove the curtain for cleaning. On a day-to-day basis, the umbrella opens and closes more easily and smoothly - the surface of our pole is a bit rough and the old plastic rings weren't nearly as smooth as this one. These rings also give the curtains a more premium look, the chrome makes everything better :-) Overall I'm very happy with it.
