It took me about 4 hours to use this product on my own - I would consider myself competent but I have never opened any electronic device other than to close the battery switch. My old iPad's screen was badly shattered with lots of small pieces and it took a very long time to remove all the small pieces in preparation for installing the new screen. I was finally able to install the new screen and was very relieved when it worked right away as it took so long. Because of the time it took I don't think I'll ever try to replace the screen again unless it's broken into several larger pieces. A few more things - 1) it's not a perfect replacement; Some internal spots/parts like sticky and soft areas are not replaced, which doesn't seem like a big deal but bothered me when I was putting the iPad back together. 2) Over time, the screen got a little darker - with the keyboard raised, I badly type a letter, and he thinks that after a few letters I press another. I just rotate the screen 180 degrees and it freezes up a bit. 3) I wish it came with a small metal file - I had trouble putting the new screen in as my old iPad was slightly dented on the frame so I had to file it down with a metal nail file and smooth out the dent. with nail punch.
