This brush produces lather that rivals medium sized brushes. I have both small and medium jagger brushes; both have badgers of the same quality. You can whip up an incredible lather with this little brush, and it's a controlled lather. Unlike the middle brush, I don't see foam dripping off the bristle array in an almost uncontrollable manner. There's a lot of suds on a small brush and it can be controlled. No need to run three fingers across the base of the bristles to keep the lather on top of the brush. The whipped soap stays where it belongs, so you can spread it where you want. I've had too much lather with the medium brush before, but not with this one - it's perfect for whipping full lather. The medium brush gives me too much lather, and when I lather up again, as I often do, I don't have to struggle with the lather at the base of the bristles. This is an amazing product with soft bristles that only get softer after some use, just like my average jagger brush. Don't let the size or the adjective "small" frustrate you. If you are using the brush for the first time, the bristles will expand or fluff up when you first take it out of the packaging. Great brush!
