Edit: The best way to tell if the product is genuine is to have a hologram on the packaging. Edit: I've come to the conclusion that every one of them, except for a couple, was bought a fake. And fakes are bullshit. The originals are good but it is very difficult to buy them here. You can recognize the authenticity by a hologram on the back and a serial number that you can check on the manufacturer's website. So if your box doesn't have a hologram, you've received a fake pair. So after looking at 4 pairs. (Love the size, form factor, performance, etc.) No pair lasted more than 2 months. At some point, one of the earbuds invariably won't charge or turn on. That's a shame, because I really like the headphones. When I discovered the first pair I received were fake. I'm leaving the original review so you know how dangerous fakes are. If they lose a pair, standard procedure will not bring them back together. I lost my original pair and I'm not even sure why I would want to replace them other than I just don't like losing things. They're very light and compact, making them a decent pair for emergency assistance. But the ones I got were much better. Speech intelligibility was much better on the other end of the phone call and on my end. Others are water resistant and can withstand an accidental drop down the toilet when you're not flushing. The fit and finish are clearly an improvement over the first pair I received. The battery life is pretty amazing for something so small, light and compact. And for the price of one pair of Apple headphones, I can buy eight pairs, so I'm adjusting my estimate. Since I don't have the original earbuds to compare, I took some pictures of the cases. As you can see, the original case has a much matte finish and is more comfortable to the touch. The fake is actually quite shiny and you can barely read the writing on the back, in fact I didn't even realize there was anything underneath until I shone it with a flash. The final touch inside the case where the cut outs are is that the electrical contacts go through the bottom, they are very visible on the fake case but they match the real thing much better. Hope that helps. They have worked great for me. until I lost one for a few hours and used the other earbud in one-ear mode. Since then it has been impossible to get them to cooperate. I've read the manual and tried several alternative procedures online. Works with technical support. Nothing. Presumably they will be reset but not connected to each other. Even if I get them to start working, I don't want to do it every time. This is one of those instances where the product would be excellent if it worked.
