To be perfectly clear, these sponges do not have the main function of absorbing liquid. When used, they do the opposite, moving the liquid over an ever-increasing area as you wipe! At the same time, the scratching surface is mediocre. The only positive comment I can make is that initially they look great in a neutral kitchen/bathroom. That's the only thing they're good at. If you're looking for an alternative to colorful sponges but still need absorbency, I recommend the IKEA Svampig kitchen sponge. They work in a neutral kitchen and, yes, they absorb.
