Wow, really not bad. Not SUPER fancy, but not bad.

I've been wet shaving for a few years now and have learned that there are a lot of "snobs" in the field. This razor is not for these people. I wanted to get a travel case for my regular safety razor and came across the Classic Samurai while shopping. For the price of a suitcase I get a whole "travel" razor and a suitcase. I thought it would be a good deal. I really wasn't expecting much from the razor, but I was pleasantly surprised. Here are my observations: 1. This razor is long. The length in the description is correct. The length of the handle is about 4 inches. I'm used to shaving with a 3" razor and while that extra inch doesn't do much, it still makes a difference. Some people prefer a longer handle as they find it gives them better control/reach. This is neither good nor bad, but be aware that if you are used to shaving with a smaller razor, it will take some getting used to.2. It is not only long but also heavy. That's probably about 2 times the weight of my standard razor (Merkur). The weight isn't overwhelming, but it feels solid. The balance is not perfect for me. It appears that the center of balance is near the upper shoulder of the shaft. Again, not necessarily good or bad, just a little different.3. Body: Remember that the back of the button is not covered with a soft fabric. This could potentially scratch the razor handle when the sheath is in use. For this reason I wouldn't keep an expensive razor in a suitcase all the time, but for my purposes (travel razor, and I drive very little) it's not a problem.4. The connection between the handle and the horizontal section (not sure of the correct name) is slightly different than what I used. On my other razors, the bottom of the razor holder has a long section that then screws into the handle. On this razor the connection is very similar, however the threaded part seems to be a little more of a problem in the future. To be honest, safety razors have been around for 100 years. It's not new technology, so you don't need the best and most expensive foreign-made razor to get a good shave. If you have never used a safety razor or are used to a heavy/long one, this razor is for you. If not, then you should probably keep shopping. There's one more thing people should be aware of: the packaging prompted the buyer to write a review on Amazon. If the buyer wrote a positive review and sent it to the supplier, they sent the buyer a "free gift". I haven't done it, but I hate it when companies do. This makes me question the legitimacy of the review process.
