Used microfiber cloths with pile, used with loops, used waffle weave, used super smooth for glasses. it's a bit strange! It's relatively thick and stiff, and it's smooth, but not as smooth as those that come with goggles and electronics. It has a little texture but not the same as waffle weaving. It's more like a microfiber cloth (those blue cloths that doctors use). It has just enough texture to remove fingerprints (with a little help from Windex) and leaves NO lint (thanks, thanks!). I don't think I would use it for general cleaning - it's absorbent, not super absorbent - but I liked it for cleaning smooth surfaces. The only thing that bothered me was the label, if you do something like washing your car with a no rinse washing machine this label doesn't work but it came off very easily so wasn't worth taking it off star for that. Another oddity if you're not used to microfiber towels are the care instructions. If you clean up where you need hot water and/or bleach (e.g. the toilet) then this towel is not for you.
