and partly because of poor mounting in drywall or plaster

I have one thing about towel rails: 99% of the mounting brackets on the market that you hang or put on a pole tend to Messed up because they inevitably come loose, partly because the connection between the rod and bracket isn't tight enough, partly because of poor installation in drywall or plaster. A few years ago I spotted a nicely designed open bolt (i.e. direct mount) variant and placed it in 2 tubs in a previous house but it is no longer made. Enter Moen's version. Yes it's a bit hefty (looks like a handrail) for a towel rail but *not bad.* Now I don't have it in my bathroom as a handrail just for towels, it's rock solid and as Moen promised it looks beautiful. And I'm not worried about it starting to wobble when my kids pull towels off it. Excellent purchase.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • So far so good
