We're having some hot spring and summer months. We have fans, but they really just circulate the air, which is a good thing sometimes. However, sometimes I need it colder, but the rest of the family doesn't. I also thought it would help him pay his electric bills. It can only be used as a fan. It's bladeless, making it safer for little fingers that love to touch. When we need cooler air and don't want to lower the temperature with the air conditioner, I use the air conditioner option. Basically I put 2 ice packs in a box and fill it with a gallon of cold water. On hotter days I even add some ice (not much). It has 4 pre-programmed modes (not used yet) and 3 wind speeds. I either have the fan on medium or high, or the air conditioning on medium or high. I set a timer (8 hours) for the night so it would turn off automatically if I overslept. The timer can be used to turn off at one-hour intervals from 1 to 8 hours. It has a 40 degree sweep. The filter has 3 layers. I'm not 100% sure how often it needs to be changed. We change the standard air conditioner filter once a month. I just have to read the manual to find out. lol. The remote control is so nice to have. Works up to 20 feet away from the device. It cools 250 to 450 square meters. I'm also not 100% sure because the description says 250 and the company says 450 if anyone asks (Q&A section). I have used it in the living room and bedroom and it has cooled the space the way I like it. What I do know is we don't have to run our main unit cold, I've seen a reduction in our electricity bills, it's pretty easy to use and keeps the room cold.
