Review on πŸ”Ž PROTAG Duet Bluetooth Tracker - Black (Retail Packaging) by Jeremy Mondragon

Limited technology - cannot locate lost items

This is not clearly advertised as to what it actually does. This is not a GPS device or tracking device for your valuables. Most likely, the device maintains a Bluetooth connection with your phone, and if the connection is lost, the Protag application will assume that you have lost it. It's not always like that. Bluetooth is pretty weak, cutting off somewhere between 10 and 20 feet. So the concept here is only really good for things that you always have with you or around you. There is now a feature to ignore the "Lost" event when you are on a specific Wi-Fi network, e.g. B. at home or at work. I've never managed to get this to work properly. If you lose something, the app will tell you where you last saved it. It is exactly within 50 feet as shown on the map. Getting back to how this technology works: the last known connected location is where the app will ask you to look for your valuables. If your valuables have moved in the meantime, for example because you left your bag or backpack on the subway, they are not where you are looking for.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Zero
