Review on 🔧 Motive Products 0101 Round Universal Power Brake System Bleeder by James Wickware

This review is for a Motive Products 101 system with a 1101 master cylinder adapter. Although the tank appeared to be well made and worked well I had serious problems with the 1101- Master Cylinder Adapter The adapter was a universal device attached with J-bolts and a chain that ran under the master cylinder. Like most compromises, the multi-adapter didn't work at all. I did a pressure test before adding fluid and everything seemed fine. Then I put a quart in brake fluid, sealed it, pressurized it and started bleeding one of the rear brakes. Things were going pretty well, then the flow of liquid started to slow down. I figured I needed to pump in some more air and went back and did it. The flow improved a bit and then I looked under the car and saw oil pouring onto the garage floor. I couldn't close the adapter no matter how hard I tightened the J-bolts. I tried to apply minimal pressure to avoid deforming the cap and then tried tightening it until I thought something was going to break, but it was still leaking. I've also tried putting a coat of brake fluid between the seal and cap and a coat of lube, but that didn't work either. Looking at the lid I think the problem is that you have a huge rubber. Gasket (circled in picture) that sits in the lid. When you pressurize the system, nothing stops the brake fluid from seeping between the cap and the rubber seal. Tightening the cap to within an inch of its lifespan will only slow the leak, not prevent it. If they supplied a hard rubber gasket with an integrated o-ring, it would probably seal properly. I would suggest buying a system that comes with the correct adapters for your car. I returned the Motive Products unit and ordered a CTA brake bleeder (part 7015) along with a 7030 adapter for my 2015 Acura TLX and a 7040 adapter for my 2008 Ford F150. I only got one adapter for my car but when I tried it it fit PERFECTLY and had a double o-ring so I don't expect any leakage issues.
