Happy template!

I have never tried screen printing but wanted to try embossing on the wall. Out of paranoia about trying some 3D on my wall, I tried it on a piece of canvas I had first. I really liked how my little test ended. At first I was a bit nervous and applied the drywall mix too thick (plaster could have been used instead of joint compound). When I removed the stencil, the excess drywall lifted off part of the design (see drawing where the design is white before painting). It was less noticeable when painted, but absorbed some of the paint. The next time I scratched it thinner and the drawing became much clearer (the drawing is on the far right). I also glued some curls on the sides and only stenciled in the middle without plaster. You can easily combine full and partial stencils for an interesting design option. The smaller ones made with just paint were incredibly easy, but make sure your brush is dry enough because if it's too wet the drawing will get messy and a little paint will seep through the stencil. I really liked the stencil and after testing it I'm sure it will look great on the wall. I used different color combinations on the canvas just because I didn't know what I wanted, but using one color made it quick and easy to create a design. I think this would work well for stenciled furniture too. Update: made wall. The stencil held to the wall up to the 3D putty (I had to wash it every 2-3 stencils). I then painted the entire wall, let it dry, and stenciled over the previously stenciled areas to paint the gold highlights, keeping the gold away from the newly painted wall. Be sure to clean the stencil every few stencils to keep the lines clean. I'm very glad I used this for my stairwell wall!
