Got the mattress topper yesterday. Mine did NOT smell and immediately swelled up after I carefully cut off the plastic wrap. I let it air out for a few hours according to the instructions. There was no problem putting it on my bed. I'm a king size and it sagged slightly over the sides. I placed it on the mattress, then on the mattress pad, and then on the fitted sheet. This seemed to reduce the excess and was no longer very noticeable. I slept on it last night and it was very comfortable! I didn't notice a cooling effect. However, I would recommend having roomy sheets. Especially if your mattress is already as high as mine. Ziggy and Muffin give it 5 stars! 😂 (see 2 photos) 😻
