Pictures are misleading. That's my fault as I'd like the measurements but thought it would actually hold up to the shoes. I wear men's size 10/10.5. Those are pretty small shelves. If you're confused by Ikea instructions, that's even worse. The inscriptions on the objects were in English and apparently in Chinese. They also don't all look like they should in the instructions. I had to figure it out myself with a lot of reconfiguration before I got it right. I would dry it as best as possible before screwing anything on. You can also see all the screws. I bought it on sale for $35 but if I paid the $100 list price I would be very upset with the quality. I lost a lot in the flood. These are the shoes that used to be at the top of my closet, so I wanted something that would hold them until I found a permanent home again. For now it's strong enough to hold my shoes, but I'll most likely try to find a better quality shoe rack that will fit adult sized shoes. If you wear smaller, low-profile shoes, they may fit her better. For now this does the job.
