Looks better in the picture but I'm satisfied. It was easy to put together, although there are still gaps between the two pieces at the top, but it does what it's supposed to do. I bought this for the Queen Anne chair I have in my living room (I call it my throne and I'm the only one allowed to sit in this chair). I needed something to put my drinks and books down and hold the devil. Cat scratches my throne! So I bought it to put next to a chair that the cat likes to scratch on and as I said it does its job. But if you're expecting nice antique furniture, this isn't it - it looks cheap and, as I said, is very shiny, almost like lacquer.
