I recently got my first set of tattoos on my arms and Curel, Eucerin and Lubriderm were suggested as the best choices for aftercare to keep my tattoos hydrated. I used sample packs of Aquaphor given to me by my artist and settled on Curel because it was the most expensive of the three and seemed like it had the best ingredients alongside the standard lotion. Less than 2 hours after using Curel my hands were hot, swollen, red and had a rash. I'm new to tattoos so I figured it was just part of the healing process. I used it for 3 more days and it only got worse. It itched so badly I couldn't sleep and the rash started to spread wherever the lotion got even a little bit covered. I then stopped, showered, washed off the lotion and switched back to Aquaphor. The itching stopped immediately and the swelling and heat went away within 30 minutes. The rash is still there but it's only been an hour since I switched. It's advertised as hypoallergenic and I'm not allergic to anything at all, which makes it even more confusing that it could cause me a reaction. In short, be careful how you might react to this and don't buy multiple bottles before you know it. In the future I will switch to Aquaphor and Yuserin.
