Review on ๐Ÿช’ Personna Twin Pivot Plus: Lubricated 50-Blade Pack (5 x 10) - Advanced Performance and Smooth Shaves by Jacki Reichmann

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The blades are fine, the state of the razor in the world is not

The blades work. They cut their hair beautifully. I would say they are significantly wider top to bottom than Dorco or Gillette sensor dual blade cartridges. This size feels uncomfortable, especially under the nose. I do not like it. I prefer to shave with a double blade cartridge razor. The world clearly doesn't want this for me. My favorite is Gillette Sensor (not Excel). I bought a new old handle, spent a lot of money on it, and soon after, part of the locking mechanism broke. Probably because it's old plastic. So I switched to Dorko. Felt cheaper. Excellent. Now I need new blades. And Dorco no longer makes double-edged razors. Only three to seven. yes, seven I noticed that my Dorco handle is compatible with Atra blades. So I tried these. They work with my Dorco pen. Something like. The dual bladed Dorco cartridges on my Dorco pen rotate about 45 degrees. These Personna Blades rotate less than 20 degrees and the restriction is in one direction, resulting in having to hold the hilt closer to the face. This, combined with the size of the cartridge and the shape of the grip, strikes me as very uncomfortable. Maybe just because I'm new here, but I don't think so. I tried all options. I have a good electric razor (which works terribly on my neck), a double-edged (safety) razor, and two straight razors. I put a lot of practice into all of them. The easiest is the cartridge. But I can't find any options I don't like so I think this one will go to my girlfriend who I rarely shave and I'll go back to mainly using my safety razor. Technology widely used before cartridge razors. It requires a bit more skill but is 100% Metal and doesn't bother me. What I really want is someone to make a solid stainless steel handle (except for the springs) for the Gillette sensor cartridges, with a bit of texture for it. The ones that exist are clearly frustratingly structurally plasticky, with no texture to hold on to.
