It's like first moisturizing and then drying with powder. It smells like nice fresh talc and leaves me alone. And yes, it did a good job with some uncomfortable chafing. I understand why there are so many 5 star reviews! I just don't understand whiners. Yes… you must wash your hands after application. You've just creamed and powdered your sweaty lower body. I hope someone does this after applying EVERYTHING down there! The smell is light and pleasant, but doesn't come close to the strong scent of baby powder. I have not the slightest complaint about the smell. After surgery for a torn muscle, I walked on crutches for several weeks, but for a while I found it easier to live in jogging pants. Then I found out why they were called SPORTS - the chafing was terrible and the boys and I were unhappy. First I got rid of my pants, and then - this lotion brought instant relief and the condition improved with each application - twice a day did. After 3 days I was fine again. Yes, it powdered me after drying...that's exactly what I wanted. Yes it is a bit pricey but worth every penny. UPDATE: After about a week and a half of use, I remembered that some of the reviewers were talking about the "burning" feeling of this lotion. I can't say it's a burning sensation for me, but several times it was warm but not uncomfortable. Most of the time everything was fine. I understand sensitive skin. For this reason I cannot use gold bond funds. Many substances that claim to have a "cooling" effect (e.g. menthol) may cause more of a burning sensation in some people. Some irritants can cause irritation, itching, burning, and swelling of the hands. So far, Fresh Balls hasn't been a problem and does the job perfectly. However, people with very sensitive skin should be careful. For this reason I have changed my rating from 5 to 4 stars.
