I really LOVE these things. Many pacifier clips are made of metal and always tarnish. That's a problem if, like me, your kid often puts the wrong end in his mouth (the end with the clip), you know, just for fun. Rough, tarnished metal in the mouth. hicks. Not to mention that soother straps have to be washed from time to time, because the target group are dirty, baggy, often snotty, sometimes vomiting BABIES. Having a metal clip that doesn't get wet over time isn't good. Not to mention the noise when washing. These plastic clips are awesome. They're still strong and easy to use, and I can easily close them with one hand. They are SLIGHTLY looser than a metal clip but my strong and willed 16 month old has a hard time getting them out of her clothes (although she manages to do it from time to time). She also tends to get angry and throw her pacifier everywhere in anger, in which case I'd rather she accidentally hit herself in the eye with a plastic clip than a metal clip!
