Add speakerphone and bluetooth where none exist. I have an older SUV that still works great but didn't have a speakerphone, but I didn't want to spend a lot of money to upgrade the entertainment system. This was recommended to me by a friend, it works great and does what it says on the tin. The controls, while not exactly intuitive, are easy to understand. It's not that I don't read manuals, it's just that with so many gadgets it's hard to keep track of how they work. And once it works, you don't have to touch it unless you need another FM station to tune to. Also remember that when you change channels you have to turn your device off and on again to reconnect it to your phone. But you can just unplug it and plug it back in. I've used it in different places and had to change stations several times to find a free channel. The device itself works very simply once connected. The audio comes out clearly from the car speakers, and unless your phone is too far away, others have told me I'm coming, although it's clear enough to hear. Notifications (e-mail, navigation, etc.) also come in quite clearly. When listening to the radio, you can easily switch from your favorite radio station to your phone. Simply program one of your buttons for the speakerphone. Then when you get a call, just switch to speakerphone and answer the call. two suggestions: 1. The buttons on the device are black on black (around the answer button) and NOT backlit. I suggest painting them white or glowing in the dark so they're easier to see in low light and you can tell which ones you're pressing. 2. The remotes work great but the symbols on the buttons on the remote do NOT match the symbols used on the buttons around the unit (again around the answer button) so you have to guess what function on the remote control that does same thing. as on the device. It's an awkward thing, but don't lose the remote control. The remote control has some functions that are (obviously) not available on the device, just tell the difference. For example, this device would be great for a classic car with FM (or added in a hidden area) as you can add functions from your phone. without disturbing the classic look of the car. Also, I don't understand why automakers don't get out of the entertainment business (it's really $$$) and just add the ability to use your phone right from their car displays. It's just a matter of programming and wiring. And using your "free and always up-to-date" map and GPS makes a lot more sense than paying the dealer a few hundred (or a few thousand) dollars for their inaccurate and buggy navigation systems, which you have to pay again and again to be updated. This device makes it much easier to ditch the fancy radio/navigation system and just use your phone instead. Latest edition. Finally got around to getting the marker to color the buttons as they disappear into the car. Especially on bright sunny days Like most cars, this unit sits deeper in the shade. See photo. Instead of trying to paint over the indentations I painted over the flat part of the button leaving a good contrast. The first button is a little clumsy as I was experimenting. But it seemed to work well to provide good contrast. Forgo the fancy radio/navigation system and just use your phone instead. Latest edition.
