I was really hesitant to buy these because the reviews say how easily they break. I have hand washed them gently and carefully and have been using them for several months now, and no rips! I pick them up and put them back carefully. Lid closes very well! You can feel the suction when you close them. You are not as big as you think. Only one of the cans can (with difficulty) hold the contents of the cereal bag. Others are pretty small so I only use them for small things like nuts or cookies. In general, I like them very much.
