UPDATE. After trying a replacement, CableCreation sent me another cable (link below) that fixed the issues I found. I recommend purchasing this cable if you are using a MacBook Pro USB-C. day (otherwise works perfectly). I'll start using my computer and after about 30 minutes to an hour the first blackout occurs - while still being able to use the other screen and interact with the computer. Other USB-C to HDMI cables/adapters do not experience these side effects.
