Review on 5M 16 FT Emergency Fire Escape Ladder: Flame Resistant Safety Rope with 2 Hook Carabiners | Sturdy & Strong | Portable & Reusable | Tested to 2000 Pounds by Sean Santhanam

OK start on emergency exit mechanism

Does not include metal hooks to attach the ladder to the window sill! See photos to understand my review. The crossbars are not braided nylon and are not as thick as the uprights. 13 pcs. Solid rungs (12" wide) cover a total length of 14'8" stairs. The first step is 1 foot 10 inches. below the end of the carabiner with a screw cap. The steps are 12 inches wide and appear to be made out of hard resin material with blue plastic caps at each end. Although the crossbars are knurled, they can rotate on smaller diameter crossing lines that you step on (repeated use is thought to wear down these crossing lines and eventually fail). A solid metal thimble is used at the top end of the ladder, which offers 2 strong attachment points for the 2 screw-lock carabiners supplied. The carabiners themselves are not marked for certified mountaineering use or regulated safety applications, but they are magnetic and appear to be steel, a suitable size for use in light conditions (roughly 3/8ths in diameter). Staircase light around 7 pounds and keeps well in a 1.75 liter bottle carton. I personally wouldn't use this for prolonged outdoor (upright) use, but I think a sane adult could use it to escape (rather than jump) from a two story building in an emergency! Again, note that you'll need to come up with some extra means to properly secure the top of the ladder in the window opening! 3 stars only for emergencies - the item itself did not have the specified fire protection class.
