Cat Post Review

I recently adopted a cat after my 19 year old passed away. I vowed never to have another cat, but of course I ended up officially adopting my foster family. My new baby was homeless and was passed around several times before reaching me. She has some trust issues but I just give her space and love when she wants it. Anyway I bought her some flat cardboard scratching posts which my old cat loved. She sat on it but didn't scratch. Then she started chasing the carpet and my couch! Oops! I've noticed that she likes to stretch her whole body to scratch. For example, she stands on her hind legs and raises her front paws to scratch herself. It was immediately clear to me that she needed a tall scratching post. I read many reviews. I chose this model because of the great reviews, solid construction and height. When it arrived I took all the parts out of the box. While I was assembling the base, she hopped onto the unpaved center section and headed into town! Even if he rolled on the floor! lol I gathered it up and placed it next to the couch where she was going. She hasn't touched the furniture or the carpet since I got this item! I am impressed! She loves it! She can't even walk past him without a scratch. It's really cute! Judging by other reviews, I bought a sissal rug to put on the base. It was completely unnecessary. She likes to lie on her side with her feet on the post and slides on the base. She usually does this by knocking off her toy mouse. She wouldn't be able to slide on a sissal carpet. I wish I had a rug with a circus tent for her to sleep on. The top is relatively small, you can only sit on it. The top is screwed down so I could do something to replace it if I really wanted to. Still very sturdy, my cat loves it and no more cat nails in my furniture! A bit pricey but this thing will last!
