Review on ๐Ÿงน Rug Doctor Wherever They Occur Cleaner: The Ultimate Portable Machine for Spot Removal on Carpet, Rugs, Stairs, Upholstery & Auto Interiors by Lee Rodriguez

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Worked great for 9 months until sprayer broke down; the same happened with the exchange!

I've had the stain remover for 11 months now. Until a few months ago I loved it - the suction power was impressive, it cleaned very well. Yes I've read reviews that the tank is awkward to fill because it doesn't stand on its own when taken out of the car - not a big deal really, it's small enough to hold on to and fill. and besides, it was small. pay for machine performance. I've also come to terms with the fact that one of the screws holding the vibrating brush head in place came loose because where the screw attaches is a very flimsy plastic loop that rips fairly soon after the Suction head is difficult to use (use pressure and vibration to free it). BUT. A few months ago the built-in atomizer started to fail. Pull the little lever to spray and nothing. No, it wasn't clogged, I connected to the internet and checked everything on it - it's the spray pump itself. I persuaded him to turn on and spray a couple more times, but now he seems dead forever. I'm pretty knowledgeable about cars and researching and apart from taking the whole car apart I've done my best. It seems ridiculous to lose the main function of a fairly expensive machine in less than a year, despite careful use and thorough cleaning, care and maintenance. The return period was only one month. So if you risk this car, be prepared that despite its price, it will only have a short life. I'm trying to contact the manufacturer right now as they should have a 2 year warranty. This will be a review to see if they support their product or not (I'll post about that later). Unfortunately I live in a small town and there won't be a single service center nearby, but it's better than nothing. In any case, the initial expectation of a good rating turned into a disappointment. UPDATE (10/2018): The manufacturer "sort of" stood behind the warranty on the above machine (I call it Spot Cleaner #1) - they replaced it *after* I sent the car back to them at my own expense. Shipping this rather heavy machine wasn't much cheaper than buying it new! Given that it was a hardware failure and not something I did, I find this unacceptable. But that started a new chapter - Stain Remover #2: Right out of the box, the sprayer had a problem. Yes, it squirted, but then it kept "dripping" and leaking cleaning fluid when I didn't want it to - when I was trying to siphon. But at least it sprayed and I didn't want to go through the warranty process again, so I learned to hold a finger over the spray opening. It also seemed to be leaking from the connection between the main hose and the body of the vacuum, but I used to put a wad of paper towels under this spot after cleaning the machine after use. However, a few months ago the sprayer stopped working, as did the #1 spot remover. I went through all the troubleshooting again, there's no clog - I just stopped drawing liquid from the cleaner tank. This time, when there was nothing to lose, I even attempted to disassemble the purifier (grey bottom and red top are separate pieces) to see if there was a pinched or clogged 1/4" atomizer tube somewhere inside . But - The vacuum cleaner is arranged in such a way that you can unscrew every screw, but the block still does not open. There are probably 2 small indentations to blame which appear to have hidden screws, but the eventual screws are covered in a layer of something I can't get through or remove. Also, the hose and spray wand are attached to the connecting components with tiny zip ties instead of removable zip ties. A cage-like mount which is then connected to the main body of the vacuum cleaner. Can't get to the zipper, can't get the other end out of the machine without removing the bottom. This is important because the spray tube goes *into* the main hose (it would also be nice to find/fix an issue with a leak at this point). I've spent enough time and frustration battling Spot Cleaner #2 and can't afford to pay a fortune to send it back to Rug Doctor again - it's going in the bin. I am ordering a new stain remover, NOT Rug Doctor, and encourage others to do the same. I really wanted the Rug Doctor to like it, but apparently there are some serious issues with its construction and the way the company handles the warranty doesn't make it worth the hassle. learn from my pain
