Not what it seems in notebook accessories

port replicator works as Dell says however there are some issues with this item. First, it ended up in a bubble-wrapped box, not Dell packaging. Second, the PSU is not a Dell branded item (as shown in the photo), it is an aftermarket item and was DOA. The port replicator itself has been overwritten. No Dell documents were included with the port replicator. I have the impression that this is a refurbished or returned item that is being sold as new. The replicator works as stated by Dell and I have two monitors. , keyboard and mouse for as long as it took to put them together (after downloading the manuals from Dell's website). Unfortunately, the computer with the DOA device was running everything on battery, and after about half an hour I had to find a charger. The communication between the computer and the port replicator is sufficient, but the computer and the port replicator do not form a unit that you can move, they must remain practically on the table on which you connected them and you must disassemble them to move them. I was using Windows 7 on a Dell M4700 and was able to run two monitors quickly (as one desktop). I haven't tried to get the monitors and laptop screen to work as a single desktop. Looks like the laptop has a hardware limitation that required a bit of fiddling to get Windows 7 happy and I haven't tried it. By the way, I need to pay the shipping cost to return the DOA adapter. I'm not happy because it's hard. I will not be shopping from these people again in the future and would suggest you do the same. The seller was EZ_ELECTRONIX, not Dell. July 23, 2013 Edit The seller sent a replacement power adapter. That too is DOA. Since it's been over a month, my usual way of dealing with people like this is to ask the credit card company to reverse the charges that aren't available. I think I'll have to settle for buying another adapter elsewhere. August 2, 2013 Edit: The seller sent a second replacement PSU. Finally a success. Now everything works. The seller was friendly and helpful with all email exchanges throughout this process, which was a relief and a welcome change. I give them full marks for their customer service.
