12L perfect for Pre-K size. I bought the 12L thinking I wish I was a size up, but I almost bought the 7L and I'm glad I didn't. The 12L is the ideal pre-K size and I guarantee the 7L will be too small. The 12 liter backpack is smaller than the average school size and perfect for my 2 year old. It's great quality, everything works well and she just loves it. It's big enough for a binder, lunch box, and a change of clothes, but I don't think it fits much more. The matching lunch box fits perfectly and is perfect. I suppose if you're looking for a small bag just for a change of clothes or small toys, 7L will do the job.
