I used this LED to replace a 300w halogen bulb in a pole. I wanted to turn it on and off remotely with a smart switch (to keep an eye on the dogs via webcam), but didn't want that fire hazard kicking in when we weren't home. Replacing the halogen with an LED has not only reduced the hazard, but we actually use the light more now because it doesn't use a lot of electricity to operate. Also, it no longer smells funny. The halogen lamp was so hot that a stink bug landed on it and started hissing! The LED bulb has staggered terminals, which allows it to fit in a much smaller diameter (diameter) halogen space. If the clamps were hung in the middle, this would not fit. The light isn't as warm as halogen (literally and figuratively) and is whiter light, but that's a bit of a compromise.
