This UV LED looks different than others I have. The description lists a wavelength a little shorter than most UV LEDs, which really appealed to me, and having used it I suspect the description is correct. Most LED UV lamps have wavelengths in the range of 385 or 395 to 415 or even 425. The higher the wavelength, the more visible light. Ideally, you need very little visible light, so basically you only see luminous objects and not the light they produce, so fluorescence is produced. This UV LED looks different than others I have. Ideally, you need very little visible light, so you basically only see glowing objects, not the light they produce, meaning the fluorescence is "poppier"! This light still emits visible light, but not as much as the others; The light it emits is noticeably dimmer (but not dimmer!), but it still makes fluorescent objects glow up to about 25 feet away. Build quality seems good, overall it's a little strange as it's not solid and flat. As with most LEDs, everything is airy and textured, with small LED domes mounted in rings on the front rather than LED chips mounted inside the case. As if the whole case were designed as a large heat sink, it dissipates the heat very efficiently. I don't think it's waterproof so it's for indoor use. This light can easily illuminate my entire 16 x 18 foot living room.
