Review on Men&#39 Motorcycle & Powersports - Protective Gear by William Turner

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Nice jacket with poor design

I bought this jacket to replace a Transit 3 I had for about 5 years, the zip on my old one broke like at the Transit 1 I had before him. I did a 4 day trip from San Diego to Vegas on the hottest weekend of the year (so far), from 78* when we left San Diego to 121* at Lake Havasu, it was over 100 for about 8 hours Drive. The jacket was good. It wasn't that hot to drive home but it was still over 100 and the jacket was good. I took out all the linings and pulled on a long sleeve 150 Merino Smart Wool base layer underneath. He showed himself well in the heat, unbuttoning all the vents, 3 on each sleeve and 2 on the chest and back. The design looks pretty good. Bad fit if you don't have a big belly! I'm 6ft 200lbs, I bought the big one. The strap was fully adjusted and still attached with velcro, and it was still a little loose in the middle when standing upright. The lower front of the jacket sticks out like a Santa Claus jacket, even with the belt tightened. Shoulders and arms are perfect for me. The workmanship is good, there are no loose threads or bad seams, the materials are solid. I expect it to last about 5 years / 50,000 miles like my last 2 transitions. The front pockets are tiny, difficult to open and close, require 2 gloved hands and cannot be done while riding! Ventilation zips have small pulls. So you can't get them by driving with gloves. I had to stop removing my gloves to reveal the lower vents and remove my jacket to reveal the front shoulders. Tiny zippers don't work well with gloves! I can return it as the zippers and pockets are so small. On long tours it is very important for me to be able to adjust the ventilation openings and reach into my pockets while riding.

Pros
  • Adjustable 'set it and forget it' collar and snap hook
Cons
  • Style 90
