I like the pattern and the fabric is nice and light

I bought this skirt in size XL for my 9 year old daughter. I like the pattern and the fabric is nice and light. Unfortunately, the skirt turned out to be much shorter than I thought. I was expecting it to be a maxi (long) shirt but it is over 2/3 long. My daughter liked it so we left it. I find the length very odd and would rather return it.
