I bought this for my 14 month old daughter. It's big for her but I don't think it's big enough for a 3 to 4.5 year old. It's soft and dense for winter. I'm sure it will keep my daughter warm at night. I really like that you can take off half or the sleeves to make it short instead of taking everything off like most sleeping bags. There is armpit ventilation, a slipper hole on the back of the butt, and a hole on the bottom for easy diaper changing. Update: There are some issues with this sleeping bag. I find the neck area a bit too small, especially on the back. It's a little tight. Sometimes I don't rip all the way up and fold the corners in at the top. I've washed and dried it so many times. At first he went a little, but only with the first wash. The quality is excellent, lasted almost 2 years of daily use. My 3 year old daughter now fits perfectly in her sleeping bag but I am planning to buy a larger size so it can be a bit looser and longer for her legs. Would recommend.
